Presidents Letter by Robin Smith
Member Pledge: I do truly promise on my word of honor that I will strictly obey all laws and lawful summons that may come to me. That I will, to the best of my ability,
defend the interest of the Club and I do further promise that I will consider the pledge I have taken binding upon me forever.
Please Note: The Family Picnic has been rescheduled to Saturday, September 18th. Please use the sign up sheet in the Newsletter or available at the Club to let us know if you can attend. As always, a dish or a treat to share is appreciated!
Special Raffle: Bill (Hupkowicz) has a special Raffle he will be running at the September General Meeting. To get tickets, you must see him on that Wednesday, September 15th, at the meeting. We’re talking money “lotto”, and your cost is your presence. See ya! (message from Billy)
With Football season fast approaching, we will once again be putting up the schedule and asking our members to prepare a half-time meal. As anyone that has hosted during a game knows, this requires a good deal of preparation, time spent serving, and cleaning afterwards. This has never been counted as a work detail. As of this fall, we have decided to allow members a work detail. This policy will be for a work detail allowance for 2-3 members per game (if you have special circumstances with more involvement, please discuss with a Board member).
On the subject of Work Details, we have also decided to post members names that have not fulfilled their time requirement on the Board at the Club. If you are in, please check your status and let us know if you have questions (will be posted after 9/1). Also, for the record, the Chairman of an event is the only person authorized to approve a work detail for their specific event. If you did a work detail during an event, please double check and have the appropriate person sign for you. Otherwise, work details done should be witnessed and/or signed for by a Board Member or Ron Vanyo (Building Manager).
Once again, we had a great time at our Annual Clam Bake (July 17th) with plenty of food and live music. Sometimes it is difficult to get a good turnout during the summer - but Joe Muscato and crew always have an event that is well attended and a lot of fun.
Our “Thanks!” to Paul and Donna Tomasik for a very successful One Day Fishing Contest this past week-end. By all accounts, there were many fish caught. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a fish fry that got rave reviews. Donna and Paul did a great job and left the kitchen cleaner than they found it. No Asian Carp were caught (yet).
Don’t forget the Club’s Annual Golf outing which is next Monday, August 16th (Joe Muscato). Patio nite is August 19th. Lots of good days to be out.
